Am I missing a hose here?
 

I am trying to figuare out whether a hose is suppose to go here on my 83 911 SC. Does this look familar to anyone?

I noticed a plug on the right of my airbox. Is it possible it should go here?

If your 83 is exactly like my 80, the plug on the side of your airbox is correct and also there should not be a hose attached to the port on the aft end of the charcoal canister. Someone correct me if I'm out to lunch here.

I believe my 80 SC has the same thing. So I guess it is normal.

Matt, the top picture is the charcoal canister for the gas fumes. It should have a hose routed to your intake to burn off the fumes (or is that the smaller nipple for the vacuum line..I can't remember nor can I tell in the dark picture). As long as the intake connection point is plugged and you don't have an intake leak, it's fine. I pulled the canister out of my car, and I was told by the gent (great P-car resource) I bought my motor from that a lot of folks have done so.

The bottom picture is of the nipple that the pre-SC cars used for oil fumes to the intake. On your newer motor, the oil fume is route to the back of the CIS boot. The plug is needed because Porsche probably used older air boxes to deplete their inventory.

You are correct. Many of the later SC airboxes are leftovers from earlier CIS versions. I had the same question as this hole is plugged with rubber type nipple. I originally thought this was a pop-off type valve, but later learned this hole was used to, like you said, route fumes back into the air box on earlier CIS versions.
