Not sure, but I can tell you your warm air regulator housing is on 180 degrees off. The inlet for the hose should be pointing down towards the driver's side of the car.

Thats the "shut off" or "stop" solenoid. It is controlled by a microswitch that takes input from a RPM tranducer and throttle position. Basically, it stops fuel flow when engine is over 1500 RPM and the throttle is closed. It stops stops fuel flow when not required (stops backfiring). For more details search this forum on the above terms or read "Check Measure and Adjust" and all the other great info and diagrams here..... http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_MFI/TipMFI.htm

I remember that when i took mt car for a service the mechanic was telling me about the mixture. I'm sure he said that it was set right for town driving but if i went blasting down the motorway i would burn something out.

He also tried to explain about a switch on the dash to chang the mixture like'the old racerboys did for track cars'.

What would of been the out come if the wire was not connected to the solenoid?

Thanks

The solenoid will never operate. The fuel will continue to be supplied to the combustion chamber at a rate that the RPM's dictate even when you take your foot off the throttle pedal, even though you are trying to slow the car down. This usually results in incomplete fuel burn and backfiring out the exhaust on deceleration.

Andi,

I hope you replaced the hot air hoses to that warm-up thermostat ... when you fixed the orientation of the inlet!!! The hot air supply is very, VERY CRITICAL to the normal running mixture of an MFI engine ... cracked hoses as in your pic can cause a too-rich condition and fouled spark plugs, as well as poor fuel mileage!
