Cant create space for heater hose with AC compressor
 

I ordered new heater hoses from Pelican to replace one crushed against my AC unit. The following picture shows the real-estate between my fan and AC compressor. I tryed routing the hose behind the compressor (didn't work) so I put it back in between the Fan and compressor. The belt from the crank pulley and the AC unit will not make it without crushing the hose. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I had to remove my A/C compressor to get mine to fit in there right. Painful hose to replace.

It will fit. Upon doing the job on mine I have decided backdating is in my car's future.

One uses a special smaller diameter (50 mm or about 2"- Porsche part number 911-211-274-00) hose that can be routed under and through the A/C bracket support. Two metal adapter or reducer fittings (Porsche part number 911-211-275-00) are used to transition down to the 50 mm diameter and then back to the 70 mm diameter of the standard hose. Jim

Heater Hose Routing
 

The heater hose on my '80 911SC runs past the front (non pulley side) of the compressor, down, under and then slightly towards the rear of the car to access the hole in the engine sheetmetal. Very awkward to install and remove, but it can be done!

Backdating was such a blessing for me. Easier hose routing, easier spark plug removal, easier airbox lid removal, cleaner looks, etc.:D

I solved this nasty issue!! Like Gordo said, I undid the three bolts holding my compressor down, tipped the compressor up and used a big flat head screwdriver to get the belt on. It was quite easy with the the compressor tipped. Thanks all, my car should be roadworthy this weekend!
