911 power seat help PLEASE

I need some help here. I just pulled the door off my 911 so that I can re work an area that was half a@#ed by a body shop. I looked down at the bottom of the seats to determine why the driver side was power and the passenger was manual. It turns out somebody rigged up another porsche seat (911?) to work in there with some lug bolts and nuts. This project is so much fun. I do not recomend buying any cars off ebay without going to inspect them first. Any how my question is at what point did they change the seat rails if at all? This will help to determine what year seat I have and maybe what porsche it belongs to. I believe in doing things right on these cars and want the correct seat in the car. The strange thing is that both seats are uphosltered the same. I can send pictures if any body thinks that would help. I would also like to trade for the correct one if any body needs this one. If any body can help I would greatly appreciate it . I should also mention this is a late 77 model.

Thanks for any and all help
Ben

Ben,
I too have a '77. I replaced my seats, (high backs which I still have), with a set of seats out of a newer Carrera. The seats did come with power on the driver and manual on the passsenger. I prefer the newer seats for their support and comfort. My originals need to be recovered so I may sell them.

my '77 seat rails are OK w/newer seats.. maybe the "lug bolts and nuts" are a poor install.................Ron

The track on the seat just does not match up I am not sure what the deal is. But definatly a poor install. I should mention the seats look the same and correct for a 911 but the power buttons are strange . Does any one know if the 944 or 928 seats look the same but had different seat rails?

Oh yes maybe this will help the driver side button to access the back seat is a push button type while the passenger side is the lever type.

If I'm not mistaken 928's and Carreras used the same seat.
Where you said that the seat back button is a push rather than a lever type then I have no idea where or what type of car that came from?

I can tell you this much about the seat. It is six position with rectangular buttons for the controls. the mounting rails look like a channel on the bottom rather than flat like the other side and most other porsches I have seen. It does have a round push button to gain access to the back but look exactly like the other seat. I can post a picture of the hole mess if some one could tell me how to post pictures on here. Thanks for the help and keep it coming as I would like to unravell this mess.
