77 Airbox Removal

Is there some secret way of removing the airbox to my 2.7? I'd like to get a head-start on installing my pop-off valve, and I don't have a 90degree drill. Anyway, I'm clueless.

Thanks

I did mine last year.

I didn't drop the engine which made it a bit more difficult and alot more time consuming but it wasn't hard.

Give yourself a whole day to do it .

look at some of my past posts for tips.

Go beg , barrow or steal a right angle drill and you'll be done in the blink of an eye !

You can always rent a right angle drill at one of the many home stores these day or rental center. I removed my airbox to replace n oil pressure sending unit and it was a all weekend affair. Did the popoff valve when the airbox was out. Just remember that the hinge side of the valve must face toward the back of the car.

no need to take it off for a popoff installation. it takes 10 minutes to cut the hole, and fit the valve.

If you take off the rear deck you can just drill straight down. No big deal.

Thanks for the replies. I put things back together (hopefully correctly) and will do it the easy way.

Just done this , my best tip is buy a quality 2'' hole cutter to go with the right angled drill chuck (or borrow a right angled drill) I was slowed down for hours by trying to cut a hole with the useless SOB blunt hole saw I was supplied with as part of a Pop off valve kit . That plastic is TOUGH !
Secondly beware of allowing the giude bit go to deep below the air box floor that you are drilling , there is something metallic below it maybe the retaining clips for the pipes around there .
