Need help installing Short Shift Kit

Hi,

I am installing the factory short shift kit in my 1977 911 S Targa.

I have everything out of the car and working on the assembly on my workbench.

I am having an issue remove the large brass nut at the bottom of the assembly, any tips?

Alternatively can I just leave it in the assembly and not use the new one?

Picture might help - are you referring to the locknut for the adjusting grub screw (has a 4 or 5mm allen head)? That big nut is 22mm and a good quality socket will fit all the way on without hitting the housing.

I figured it out, needed an impact wrench and a socket to remove it but all good,

Loving the new short shifter, much more connected feeling.

Thanks @Jonny042 for the tip!

I'm late to the game. I would have suggested loosening that pivot pin nut while the shifter is still bolted onto the tunnel. Position the flex handle on the passenger side and press downward to loosen (saves knuckles). Some motivation from a dead blow hammer will assist on an especially stubborn nut.
