Fitting Recaro's in a '79 911 SC

Hi,

Attempting to fit a pair of re-upholstered Recaro's using genuine rails, to replace the fixed race seats that were previously in.

Looks to me like a bracket was removed to lower the centre of gravity?

The Recaro rails line up fine on the mount points, but the seat is too low and the pivot points on the side of the seat rub on centre where the handbrake is.

Here's what my mount points look like:

This is a picture of someone else's car showing the bit I think I'm missing?

Is there a part for this or will I need to fabricate something ?

Cheers

When I had my Recaros, I put the Recaro adapters onto the seat, then installed the factory sliders.

Yes previous owner cut out the original seat mounts that you see on the bottom pic.I don't know if they are still available.

Correct regarding the cutting.

Brey Krause or Cobra Seats may have some brackets to help you mount the seats without adding the original rails back.

The original rails were part of the tub.

Yes your seat mounts were cut. I had to modify the factory sliders to fit with the Factory seat mounts in my 1978.

I agree with the poster above.

The mounts were cut unfortunately.

I also had to modify the factory sliders to fit the seat mounts. Required drilling some new holes. I also added small risers since the seats were really on the ground pretty without them.

My car is an ‘84 with LS-B seats.

I removed the slides from my factory seats and bolted them to my recaros. I didn't have to modify anything to fit them to my car.

WHat exactly did you guys have to modify? (got pics?)

I had to use a set of Weltmeister risers as well between the seat and sliders. My seats had a raised lip edge approximately 1.5inches from the edges on all sides which made attaching the sliders impossible as they would not sit flat. Had to drill new holes.

Where can the risers be found today and is there ones better than others?

I removed some LX-C’s for a set of OEM. Would like to re-install them if I can get them to fit better.

I believe the Weltmeister is NLA I bought them ~7 years ago on this site. I installed these on the seat base so the sliders would clear the metal lip and sit flat on the seat mounts.

Contact Brey Krause or Cobra Seats. They have lots of brackets and rails to adapt different seats to different cars.
