What do people do if they want to replace their OEM muffler.

Watching the best 3.2 engine removal/teardown I've ever seen on Youtube.
In video #15, she decides the OEM muffler needs replacing since the inside is rotted out.

Do they still sell OEM muffler?
What do people do if they ONLY want to replace their OEM muffler,
and not replace their entire exhaust with a fancy sporty system like Fab, B&B, Dansk, SSI, etc.

Pretty sure Dansk sells an "oem" version and a "sport" version. I went with the sport version because I wanted a subtle increase in sound but since I live in CA I have to smog. Very happy with it.

replacing muffler

Approx. 10 years ago, I decided to replace the original muffler on my 87 Carrera.
I did some research and chose to replace it with a small shop muffler specialist called MONTY. A fantastic engineered , hand crafted, SS product.
You pay some extra for quality, and you get it shipped from Australia...
You will never regret your decision...try and google MONTY MUFFLER.

Nice product, but pretty sure shipping from within Canada would have been preferred.

You can replace just the muffler with any muffler that uses OE Porsche inlet flanges and spacing, such as M&K. If you are after the stock appearance and don't care about weight then something like Dansk will work.

muffler

You can by a Monty from AASA sales in Ohio...
You do pay for long lasting quality, a few extra ponies and amazing sound.
Worth investigating...

Any chance you have some quality videos of the Monty muffler on your 3.2? If not, want to shoot a couple? It's tough finding good videos of certain mufflers. The Monty is one of them. Trust me, I've searched.

Also, any input on how the Monty compares to the M&K in terms of loudness, tone and overall sound??

you crawl under the car after soaking the fasteners, remove the old unit, replace with a new one of your choice with new gaskets and fasteners with anti-seize. at least that's what I would do. id not post a thread on it unless I was doing a tech article type thread.

but that's what a doer would do, not someone who simply talks about doing.

I have this setup currently and am reasonably satisfied. For anyone looking to bump their sound a bit and improve performance, this is my recommendation.

The M&K premuffler + 1-1 M&K muffler was too "aggressive" for my Targa. But now the exhaust note isn't aggressive enough. So, I'm in somewhat of a Goldilocks conundrum. But, I'm like this with every car until I get it "right".

I intend to try a Dansk Sport, Monty and SCART (most likely in that order).

David -- You have PM. Thanks for offering to shoot some videos of your ... full Monty.
