Front suspension help
I searched the threads but coming up empty. I am in paint and body and trying to resolve the gap I have between the front right wheel and front fender gap Vs the left. Seems the right side, passenger, the front wheel is 20mm closer to the front of the fender than the driver side.
We had the car on the lift and the body is straight. Measured all the key suspension points with only small single mm in variance. New elephant bushings in the front suspension. Just had the alignment done. Thoughts? ![]() ![]() |

I would drive it a good bit to exercise the suspension so it can settle. I know I'll be in the same boat. Just put on ER bushings and the front flange on one arm drifted off a few degrees after the bushing install.

Just a wild guess.
Does the car have ER off-set ball joints? What if one is installed correctly and one is 90 deg out?

Look's to me that the r/s fender is bent down almost vertical in front of the tire. The fender should have more of a radius.
Lot's of body work there and the gaps look way off. |

To me the sheet reads that the right side would be slightly further back than the left. Your car is opposite.
How do the door gaps compare?

You measured the chassis. How? E.G. wheelbase same both sides? etc. If the chassis is straight, then the body panel(s) are off. If the frt. fenders are straight, then the chassis is “off”.

To me this looks like a fender body work issue first? Do some comparable measurements there first before you look at the suspension.

Measured from center rear wheels to front wheels and have a 20mm difference on the front right side. Under the car measured from various points for instance to the front of the suspension torsion bar caps and left and right are the same which is why we suspect it is in the front suspension.

Good. You seemed to have isolated the damage area. Next, measure/compare the suspension and cross member mounting points. Maybe "just" a bent lower control arm or ....?

I would suggest the PO measure the wheel cutouts: are they the same on both sides? Also might be helpful to locate the fender/wheelwell ends to the chassis/suspension somewhere, however I'm a bit inexperienced to sheet metal on these cars. |

I would measure the suspension mounting points from the body to a FLAT floor to make sure the body is not twisted. At least eliminate that as a possibly.
Hard for me to believe the wheel base is off on one side, but anything is possible. Why would the alignment guy not have seen that? I would then measure the ride height, as per the manual, on each corner to confirm even ride height.

Fender mounting, the fender/wings are variable in manufacture, fitting is required. Your gaps look skewed.
