Combo gauge wiring question

I just installed the combo gauge in my car this weekend. It is a 69T that never had the combo gauge. Needless to say I need install the pressure sending unit and a new wire from the sender to the gauge.

I am trying to find out where to connect the lead from the oil temperature-sending unit. There is a connector on the temp gauge that reads +12v, GND and the universal symbol for ground. Does anyone know which connection the signal from the sending unit should go to?

Thanks!

On the rear of the sender:
+ 12volts in
G wire to/from gauge (red on green ot whatever)
GND symbol is a common ground to chassis.

Stuart

Thank you! I figured I had a 50/50 change and I connected the gauge to the universal ground symbol. I interrepted G as ground not Gauge. Needless to say that did not work. I will swap that around tonight.

While you are there, could you look at the bulb for the low fuel warning light (if you have one). Does it have one or two wires coming out of it?

Mine does not have one but the gauge has the socket and it had two wire connectors on it.

I guess I need to do a little more research. With the gauge lead connected to ground the gage did not register any temp. With the sender connected to G it reads max all the time. Should there be a ground, in addition to the 12V and gauge lead on the combo gauge? This is somewhat a rhetorical question as I plan to try that next.

AFAIK you need all three. What is the date stamp on the back of the temp gauge?
