'Specialty Racing Wheels', nice period correct fuchs alternative wheel

Manufacturers name is 'Specialty Racing Wheels'. Has anyone ever heard of them?

I bid on this on impulse a few weeks ago and won. Cool wheel, but there is not much I could do with it unless I find another one.

Here is my wheel, 16x11. From the FWIW department, this thing cant weigh more than 15lbs

and here is a nice set thats for sale. Lug pattern is wrong, but this could be changed by a machinist to 5x130 pretty easily. these are 15x10s, but you will see in the pic that the centers unbolt so you can narrow them down or play with the offset. Pretty cool wheels.

So do you guys think someone crafty like Harvey Weidmen could cut these things down to say 8" with a 45mm offset and re-drill them? I think they would fit under my narrow flares without any fender pulling.

Has anyone ever heard of or known of a source for these wheels or the centers?

TIA

That was the company that made their name in the '80s with a special offset to fit 7" wide wheels under stock 914 fenders. I remember it from VW&Porsche Magazine when I was a teenager.

Long out of business I believe.

Those centers could have the holes welded up and redrilled. The centers could also be pressed into new rim halves and welded (NOT bolted) up. Would make a cool wheel. You may want to get a price on that first. I bet you could order a new set of minilites for the cost of converting those monsters.

I like them though. Does the parent company still exist?

Nope, I thought they were minilites also. They are 7 spoke, minilites are 8. These things are lighter than minilites. Maybe lighter than Fuchs also. Seriosuly the 16x11 I have cant weigh more than 15lbs. The name of the company was 'Specialty Racing Wheels'.

I know, old thread, just found it on a lark. I had a set of these, 15X7, made up for my E-Type Jag. If I recall correctly, he was out of Sacramento.

They are glued and screwed.. Actually bolted. I just liked saying that.

I bought a set of 10x16s a few years ago, they have a 5x5 bolt pattern, supposed to be CanAm wheels. They are ultra light. Love the look. Haven't done anything with them since.

Would they happen to be for sale? I am restoring an old scca c prepared Camaro that was ran back in the day, and these were on it. I'm finding the wheels, but people seem to like them for wall art, lol. I'm more interested in aluminum center ones, but at the moment will take magnesium ones if that's all I can find for show purpose only till I can find aluminum ones.

Yes, Chevy is 5x5 or 5x127. Porsche is 5x130 so these are slightly off for bolting onto a 911.
