Shift rod coupling pin stuck
I have been trying to beat the pin out of the coupler for a good 20 min and it wont budge. Ive seen videos where guys just knock these things out. What am I doing wrong?

I discovered mine has a pin that needs to be removed

Clamp the steel part in a vise first, then hammer and a drift, or use an air hammer gently.

I got it out. Turns out there was a pin in the middle for some reason. All the other threads I read and videos I watched never showed a pin.

People will do that to the pin when they have experienced a pin drop out of the assembly.
I went a different route, and had a machine shop drill a hole lengthwise so I could tie it off around the coupler with safety wire. This pin came with three equally-spaced groves around the outside. When they wear away, or are in my case, are sanded down, the pin will drop out. Bill K http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587308042.jpg |
