Porsche Decklid lock.. piece missing after electroplating, someone have a spare?

I sent in my hood lock for the deckled to get electroplated and it came back without one of the pieces. I'm guessing since that part is pot metal it probably just melted during the coating process.

Does anyone have an old one lying around that I can purchase just for this one part? Would like to avoid purchasing the entire piece as you can't purchase this part.

Here's a link to the new one and what mine looks like.

Thanks for any help!!
Bryan

It is missing the piece which looks like a washer and keeps the spring down below the tip. In the link you can see the piece I'm missing. Hopefully someone has an old one..

Thanks again for any help!

missing latch

None of that is pot metal. Ask your electroplater to go look for it. FYI I always take photos of my parts to help the electroplater determine what is mine.

David, thank you... will have them look for it. It wasn't apart when I took it to them so wondered why it wasn't there when the rest was still together... unsure what happened... who knows.

Still looking as I'm guessing they won't be able to find.

that piece is a different kind of metal (not sure what it is) , When I had mine plated the equivalent to your missing piece came back looking pretty ugly - almost burnt. my guess is it broke in the acid or plating bath. sorry don't have a spare.

I had the same results as Jeff. I think that part is aluminum and will dissolve if left in the plating tank long enough.
