1986 Fuchs wheel preservation?
I am working on cleaning the Fuchs from my 1986 930. They are white gold metallic painted from the factory and look really nice considering the age. I have ordered some color matched touch-up paint. The backside of the wheels have multiple defects and bite marks from tire change machines. I plan to spot sand these down to remove corrosion, prime and paint. Then to protect the paint and the backside of the wheel from brake dust should I get them professionally clear coated?? I am sure someone has been down this path before. The front of the wheels are so nice I think wax and frequent cleaning will be appropriate.

David -- believe the backs came from the factory (and are generally left) unfinished --

The back inside of the barrel is painted. The back side of the center hub section is anodized. I just thought I could protect the aluminum and paint on the backside with a fresh coat of clear. Will talk with a local body shop about it and see what they think.
