Rad. I wonder if they will eventually do an updated one with Android Auto as well.

The new Porsche Classic Communication Management system is available including map material for 1,439.89 euros (PCCM) or 1,606.51 euros (PCCM Plus) including VAT in the Porsche centres or via the Porsche Classic online shop.

Whoops! Missed that. Shame on me for looking for $.

To each their own, but looks pretty ugly to me. No regrets that I bought a B Bremen 46.

That is really cool. I wonder how much the map updates will cost in the coming years once the unit is installed and running.

My wife's car is a 2017 Macan. It has Apple Play. It will run my iPhone right from the dash. We ordered it with no GPS since it has GPS and we don't many road trips in it. I use my 85 911 for long roads trips. I have a Garmin GPS I mount to a ring that goes around the clock. So my Garmin GPS is right behind the cruise control lever. Not ideal, but not on the windshield.

A real GPS is really handy for out in the middle of nowhere with no cell reception. GPS always works outside, unless you are under a heavy tree canopy.

To have a Apple Play system in the 911 would be pretty neat.

....I am happy with looks, but that price is certainly at an eye watering level....holy merde!

Regardless of price this device has no appeal to me either aesthetically or functionally. Part of the charm of our older cars is not being saddled with that stuff! I get enough of electronic excess everywhere else.

I wouldn’t be interested in it even if it was free!

I largely agree except for the fact that driving around Europe, in the dark, without a straight piece of road to be found, with every block having a different street name in a foreign language to boot....well, Apple CarPlay and/or GPS is wonderful.

...and why not use your iPhone on the dash, well if I have to choose between a fugly cell phone mount on my 911 and this thing, give me something more or less built in every time. Had too much trouble with GPS units falling off the window at bad moments, fugly cell phone mounts twisting as you navigate to want to go through that any more than I have to.

The stereo I could not care much about, but the navi is worth a lot to me..

Just sayin'

Looks cool, but that price is absolutely shameless.

Also, if my 911 taught me anything, it's never to buy or trust any electrical equipment designed and sold by Porsche.

When my after-market stereo gives up the ghost I'll likely consider this. Suncoast m night have it cheaper eventually, but a good mix of past and present.

blucille 04-23-2020 02:41 PM

I’ve got a 2012 cayman R that would benefit from something like this...the PCM ver 3.0 isn’t new enough to support Bluetooth audio streaming without a bunch of aftermarket add ona that are full of flaws....and the driving experience isn’t vintage enough to where I want to listen to the car exclusively.....

Yes, there’s that price, and it seems compatibility ends with the 996 but I can hope for some kind of upgrade.

The price is the only thing that puts me off the Porsche Classic radios. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

What's the longer-term review of the new Bremen? I like the look and the overall features but I was holding off for reviews from folks who've had them for a while. And to see when they'd be available directly from domestic companies.

jlex 04-23-2020 02:52 PM

Ha... just about the only thing I can hear in my '88 is the engine unless I crank the Blaupunkt up to ear splitting levels... if the car was quiet, I'd consider an upgrade, but to upgrade when the only real song playing is the engine whine, why bother....

Flojo 04-24-2020 01:48 AM

hm, I thought that driving a classic is exactly BECAUSE you don't have and don't want that fancy stuff.

well, again $$$$ saved for me, haha

Geronimo '74 04-24-2020 02:21 AM

Ditto,
In my car, the hole where the radio goes, is covered with a zero dollar piece of cardboard on which I glued a zero dollar piece of black felt.
Sounds awesome, volume button is under my right foot.

I’ve got a good stereo in my DD and company car.
No need for one competing with my M&K in the P-car. ;)
