71T engine bay - fuel supply

Hi All,
I'm currently restoring a 71T that I bought incomplete in boxes. Now I'm working the engine bay and the PET is not very clear (to me) on the fuel supply for my car.

So from the hard line protruding the left frame rail. What happens then?

1) For an original setup. What kind of filter? Fuel accumulator? What kind of "T-fitting" or divider for each carb?

2) What kind of good, reliable and nice looking, after market setup would you recommend from the hard line to the two carbs?

Thanks for any input!

Here is my setup. Not stock at all. My car is an E, but all the MFI and related was long gone when I got the car. The original fuel pump was mounted above the drivers (left) side sway bar mount in the rear. I have no idea of what the original carb setup was.

I have used this Facet pump for over 30 years with no trouble. I plumbed in a Bosch fuel filter, 71021 is the number I think from an SC. I used copper tubing and aeroquip hose with factory clamps.

Thanks Gordon, I have the original (restored) pump in the front. But that looks like a good setup.

Hi Jörgen,
here's the tread that I have found the most clarifying for the fuel system setup.

Weber fuel recirculation- Questions

I'm going to get that Facet pump Gordon says -thanks for your info, it's nice to hear it works and lasts 30 years- they are also inexpensive (<50€) but in my case i'll place it in the front.

There's some very nice setups in the thread, but I want to keep it super simple and see if it works for me too. So pump, filter and two dead ends is going to be my first go.

From my ‘71T. This car is missing the OE fuel filter so I don’t have that portion of the fuel system.

In the pictures below, you can see where the fuel enters the engine compartment and then via rubber hose to the after market fuel filter which then connects to what I assume is the OE fuel distribution hard-line to the carbs. Hope this helps a little.

BTW, this was a car with a mouse problem and the little bugger did finally find it’s way to the trap.....

It’s previous home:

The 1971 fuel pump made a location change mid-year; I have VIN data on that except for the Karmann 911T. Typical carbs for 1971 911T were Zenith 40TIN.

It looks like you already have one of these in place.

It is the factory Fuel Line Bridge to the Carburetors.

Some owners put a clear filter on each Leg to the carbs and I think this is a good idea.

Thank you Kalinsd, those images helps a lot. My car is an early -71 (Karmann) with the pump in the front.

Welcome!

This car’s pump is in the back.
