1973 Targa Florio - RSR content.
Great vid, must see for aircooled peeps.
Gijs Van Lennep and his very own 1973 RSR not sure if this is the right forum, but who cares :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjqMYAxuRAk |
to be clear, Gijs doesn't own the car, but it's his very own winning 1973 car. He won.

Cool video!
Six years ago I got to visit Sicily and stole a day to check out what remains. Here is the start/finish. Wardrobe courtesy of Shaun@Tru6 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587762922.jpg The roads are crazy. Way crazy. Mudslide? Just put in a sign and leave it be! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587762922.jpg Cool memorials pop up in unexpected places. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1587762922.jpg If you want to read more, here's the book Price has gone up, though! https://www.amazon.com/Racing-Demons-Porsche-Florio-Hardcover/dp/0615804403 Wrekah, just curious:does this car belong to the famous collector in Antwerp? Seems like it should. Thanks for sharing this! |
Some other historical pictures. The past really is a different world.

Great video. Thanks for that. What a race and what a car!

the whole video is sponsored by clothing brand State of Art, which used to belong to Albert Westerman, which was a Porsche collector...i would assume it came out of his collection...somewhere in the Dutch hinterland. I'm not sure though.
I was in Sicily with the bahama yellow '69 some 13 years ago...we didn't have the time to do the track....i'm going back there one day. Whenever i see footage of the Targa Florio, or of historic Spa, or of Charade...i know i was born 50 years too late. |
Fantastic video and story from that era.
Also I wonder how many Dodge extended cab dually pickups (2:55) there are driving around Europe. I suspect not that many. |
10 years ago, not a single one, not even normal pickup trucks.
Now, they are everywhere because of tax loopholes. (Just like 500hp 'hybrids'.) And of course, they do not fit our roads except highways. But who cares these days? https://alodecals.files.wordpress.co...1286.jpg?w=640 |
