Phoenix Wrench

Well, guess I have to bite the bullet, my car just failed the good old emissions test, I think this is a little above my knowledge so I am taking it to a mechanic. I chosen Don Jackson and was wondering if you Phoenians had any experiences with them? If he not a good wrench then please tell me who is.

Hey, you missed our Pizza Party. I'm sure we all would've liked to have a representative from the Turbo crowd join us....

Wife comes before pizza, no doubt about that. Hope all went well with the surgery. Don Jackson is an excellent choice, he'll do you well.

BTW Arizona Pelicans, are we going to try and have a get together sometime in April. We thought about a Saturday. I know Jose lives in Yuma and he emailed me saying he would try and make the drive if it was on a Saturday.

Let's keep in touch.

Hey, loved ones first, toys second. Hope your wife is doing well.

Count me in on the April thingy...as long as my family isn't in town.

Has anyone ever used Dan at Import Car Corner on Cave Creek?

Just curious as he was recommended to me and did not know him or the company.

Pls put me on the April calender but not for the weekend of 13/14. Working again... drat!

Joe

PS why not drive out to Skydive Arizona in Eloy (40 miles I believe) and have a get together out there with Jose? Have been a skydiver for 25 years and would not mind getting some freefall time! Not this weekend though as its a competition weekend and will be full...

Joe,

The skydiving photo on your web site is pretty bizarre! I never would have guessed 120 mph wind would have such an affect on a woman's body!

I'm tentatively hiking on 4/20 so that Saturday is out for me... might be able to make something in the evening, but I'll be limping.

Lee,

Agree about the picture in freefall! Have to say the same thing about guys in freefall... really flops around a bit!

What about next weekend (possibly too soon?) or 6/7 April? Going to be out all the first week of April but should be back home on the weekend...

Joe

Joe,

Sat April 6 works, but Tammy's flying on the 7th. We need to enlist some of these guys who know the backroads well and find a loop drive with a lunch spot in the middle.

I'd like to get in on some of your get togethers but I think my car is getting put down for a while this weekend. Steel turbo fenders are going on next week and I think I'm going to spray the 94 pearlessence white on it since it's already white. Then I may be back out with it... may be a month or two.

Don Jackson has done all of the heavier mechanical work on my '88 since I bought it two years ago and he has been very fair, with the work done on time. Shop rate is $64, which seems more than fair. We discussed this at the Pizza get together and most of us had at least some work done by Don and crew. Don has been at the same location for over 25 years and has his two sons and another tech working with him.

Thumbs up

Don Jackson is the only shop I have EVER found, that I can trust. I deal with DJ (Don's son) and I honestly cannot say enough good things about them. Even though I'm a DYI guy, he is always willing to give freely of his knowledge. A++++ people.
Sorry I didn't get back to you on your get together. Keep me informed on future ones, as my Beast is back on the streets after a 2 1/2 year bare metal resto!

Porsche Crest Mr. Goodwrench is from Los Alamos NM...

Do you guys know a Dan Brosman in Phoenix? He is on other BBS's and seems to know tons.
Looks like he owns a shop there and does motor builds.

Could he be Dan of Import Car Center? I am going there later on today and will see.

Joe, where exactly is that place? Is it the place on Cave Creek road, North of the Carefree Highway? I think there is also a Mercedes shop there.

Cave Creek road and Peoria. He works on Volvos, Porsches and such. Heading out the door to go there as he is checking out a Volvo I am interested in buying (gotta have good A/C in Phoenix) for the summer!

Joe, that place has got to be right down the street from Beck's Independent Porsche Shop. Frank Beck took this place over from his dad. It's been there about 25 years that I know of.

I went to grade/high school with Frank.

Hey guys,

Why have you been using for air conditioning work? Would prefer to use an independent shop as the minute you mention Porsche they charge more.

My A/C compressor is leaking and was thinking of putting all new hoses on the system as well.

Any suggestions in the Phoenix area?

Thx,

Joe
