1977 911S smoking after sitting for 3
Finally got my car back from the body shop after 3 years. Took for ever for them to do a paint job. Got it running but quite a bit exhaust smoke. Let it idle for a while then turned it off. Started back up a few times did smoke but not quite as bad. Was running great before I took it to the body shop. The car had a complete engine rebuild just before I purchase the car abut 6 years ago. Again ran great for the 3 years before I brought it to the body shop. there is about 3000 miles or so after the rebuild. Long story why they had it so long, don't want to get into right now. Any suggestions.

The Porsche engine design allows oil to seep from the oil tank into the engine case over a long period of time. That oil gets by the piston rings into the combustion chambers. Any open exhaust valves allow that oil into the exhaust system.
It will continue to smoke until it all burns out. We remove the exhaust systems on long stored 911and 912. We get them hot tanked to remove the oil build up. Whatever you choose (tons of smoke and pissed off neighborhood) or the labor to R &R the exhaust is up to you |

Normal.
Just started mine today for the first time since late Nov. 2019. Smoked for a little while then cleared up. Didn't get a chance to drive it but just letting it warm up enough to check the oil cleared it up.

Well I drove it around the block a few time and when I got back oil dripping out of the exhaust pipe and a good amount of smoke. But she ran good! About how may mile before the smoke goes away?

I'd give it a good 50-75 mile run at "country road" speeds and above. Some up/down hill too where you can seat the rings going uphill and pull some vacuum going downhill. That should be start to clear things up well.
