front flares

Does anyone know of a good source for inexpensive flares for front fenders? I am running in a race class that allows me to have 225/50/16 tires, but I can only get 205/50/16 under the car. I am running a 930 front suspension and the hubs have a little wider track so I can't get the spec tire under the car.

what I am looking for is a fiberglass flare that I can pop rivit on to the existing fender to give a little more room. I have even considered going to a junk yard to look at other cars fenders to see if I can get a set of cut outs from a non porsche that would fit.

any ideas would be welcome.....

Jim

Assuming you have exhausted possibilities of rolling fender lips etc. you might try rear carrera flares. I was messing around one day "in band camp" with front turbo flares and found that they match the rear wheel opening reasonably. Therefore rear flares would work ok up front. hope this helps, chris

Yes I have rolled the lips, infact I had the fenders off and pounded the lips totally flat before fitting to the car. I currently have so little space between the tire and fender, almost every one who sees the car can't believe the tires don't rub. They would except I have 23mm torsion bars, 31 mm sway bar and really stiff shocks keeping the car flat. sitting in a resting position there is about a 1/4 clearance.

Perhaps a more negative offset rim would help?
I have stock front fenders and can fit 255/40/17 Victor racers or 245/40/17 Hoosiers. 21mm front t-bar.
275/40/17 rear with an RS flare.

ted,

that is an idea I had not thought of, do you know which 7x16" fuchs have the greatest offset?

Thank you big Bill check the www link below for more pics and specs.
Enjoyed your site as well.

Jim my 17x8 front rims are 3 piece custom offset with 16x6 Fuch centers.
Do you have to use a stock Fuch 7 inch rim in your class?
Are you in a spec tire class too?
If not I'd check the 17 and 18 size tires too before commiting to 16 rims.

To answer your question, I do not know which 16x7 Fuch had the most negative offset.

As you know you can find custom rims at many places.
My rims are from Mirage International in San Diego,
set of four offset rims start at about $1800 up.
(858) 581 1101

hope that helps.

I am in a spec tire and rim class, so 7x16 rims in thr front only, with 225/50/16 Toyo RA1s only, does not need to be Fuchs,

just looked it upin Anderson's book, he lists only two 7x16 fuchs, both with 23.3mm offset.

Seems like overkill, but either 930 or these 934 would give you a lot of room
