Voltage Regulator issue

Hi

I changed the voltage regulator on my 1984 911.
Drove it a few times and all ok
Noticed Voltage jumping up to 15.1 and then back in spec then down to 12. It Revs do not influence the reading.

I think I have a faulty voltage regulator but asking if it could be anything else

geoff

Just to be clear, you changed your VR because of what? Is the problem with the new one the same as with the old one?

Check the grounds

And all the connections between the alternator and regulator, especially the black and blue wires.

Sounds like an intermittent connection. Check the ground strap between tranny and engine first. Then clean up all the alternator ones. I recently polished up all mine when I had a similar Issue. Good luck.
