Important V8 Conversion Information
It has recently come out that a popular V8 conversion company has been selling parts for street use that were not DOT approved. These parts should have been described as "May never be used on a public roadway" but they were not and now MANY people have been cheated.
If you bought parts from Renegade Hybrids contact the DOT and file a report. You will also be eligible for civil restitution for your damages. Failing to take care of this can have serious legal consequences for the car owner. I made a yahoo group http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/RenegadeHybridsSUCKS/ for people caught up in this scam. You can also just post about problems you have had with their parts or service. They have a bad reputation for not standing behind faulty or illegal major parts they sell. Hope this helps some people avoid legal problems or making the same mistake as others. R |
Can you provide more info? Which products in particular?
|
You guys put V8s in P-cars, and we're supposed to feel sorry for you?
|
Can you elaborate? 90% of the performance modifications you can do to any car are technically "for off road use only". Is this a case of angry customers looking for any conceivable way to get back at a vendor, or is there really a uniquely dangerous product Renegade is selling?
|
I find it interesting he doesn't mention the exact problem. My guess is a pissed off customer.

Rallyjon is right. I have seen a few of Renegades products and they looked like good quality components. Whats the problem, paperwork or product?

Nah, just revenge...

An engine is an engine is an engine. I think i saw some website somewhere that blamed Renegade for selling parts that rust. Okay, if you build something yourself, from a scratch, I guess one would paint parts that rust.
Besides, when handling/building kitcars/making hotrods..well anything, you are the person who in the first hand is responsible of the result. You do sloppy job, you get sloppy results. |
At the bottom of every invoice from my local shop is a disclaimer for parts being for racing use only, with no warrenty.
Does this belong on the Camaro forum? |
It is the spirit of Dr. Porsche taking revenge on those who would lay waste to his master design.

Every Renegade part and service that I've purchased including a 930 gearbox with R&P reversed, bell-housing shortened, radiator kit, adapters, clutch have been top notch and there is an attention to detail, fit, finish, and customer service that is first rate in my experience. They have stood behind their products %100 and on many occassions gone out of their way to make things right.
This is not and should not be standard policy, but when deciding on my clutch package, I was considering various other companies that make good products (ie. KEP) Renegade guaranteed my satisfaction with their clutch setup or they would replace the parts they provided for me with the KEP parts. This is one example of not only confidence in functional parts, but also out-of-the-way service. To date, I have heard only one source of complaint about Renegade Hybrids, and it comes always from this one anonymous source in every major Porsche forum. It has been beaten to the ground so many times that it is ridiculous. There are many many satisfied Renegade customers out there happily driving around with super-reliable parts. Theres is not the only way to make a conversion, nor do I agree with all of their design concepts, but they are a far step above most other choices out there as a whole and their parts work. -'Chung |

May I suggest deleting this thread? Or at least moving it to OT?

This guy has been spamming all Porsche related sites with his "beef" against Renegade....I've dealt with Scott and his crew for 911 and 914 conversions that I've worked on and I don't feel he's hiding anything.
I'm not sure what his "real" problem is, V8 conversion cars are legal and I know of a few that have been smog certified as well. Maybe he lives in a state that does vehicle inspections and his car failed for some odd reason. So, is stuffing a 3.6 into an early 911/914 car DOT legal? Oh no, lots of law breakers out there :) |
Pelican resells Renegade Products, and has no problems with any of them. Scott and the staff at Renegade are very professional, and their products are more than tough enough to withstand the harshest racing conditions. In terms of good customer support, they stand out like GHL and a few others.
This board is *not* a public forum - you do not have any rights here. This is my 'living room' and you cannot just jump in here and start spewing off at the mouth. I am closing this thread and suspending your account. -Wayne |
