I am considering a lightweight lithium battery for my 80SC w/3.6. Would like to hear some actual pros/cons of ownership. Thanks

I have the version with safety button for starter back up. Have only had about a year. No trouble starting my 3.6 in the 91. I don't have enough experience to "recommend" it yet, but I'm buying another for my 70 pro tour Mustang I'm finishing. It's so light and convenient to move....I'm looking into a quick install setup to use between my rarely driven cars in collection rather than trying to keep multiple lesser batteries maintained all the time. Biggest issue currently is they have several models sold out including the universal I'm currently using. They appear to be the best quality/weight/ah/cost out there. Sure there are better batteries...but most are 4 digits.

I have had the smaller atx30 battery for over a year and it has been good. I don't have a tender in my storage so if I don't get to drive the car enough and the battery drains the restart feature is great. Before I had to lug an extra battery with me just in case my lead acid battery was dead.

You will need a special LiFePO4 charger which is an additional cost to consider.

I have one in my BMW 2002tii and it's been fine. Great weight savings.

We use the ATX-20-RS in our race car builds and they have been great in that application.

What is the weight of this battery?

I have one and I love it, no problems and at 15 pounds, it’s half the weight of my 33 pound optima

One more thing, I replaced my 22lb Harley battery with a light weight 4.5 lb battery. What a difference when getting the bike off the side stand. Starts every time. Had the battery for a couple of years now.

What? You must be talking about an AGM.
Anti-Gravity batteries are less than 3 pounds.

I've been contemplating this for a while now so looking forward to reading the experiences that owners have. The LiFePO tenders are another $100 and then the mounting kits are another $150 +/-.

Checking out Anti Gravity's website their ATX-20 at $400 might be suitable for most 911 owners, 5lbs too!

I tried one in my 914-6 conversion.
It was light weight at about 11 lbs and with a little trimming to the bracket you, fit nicely in the factory 914 battery tray.
It had some interested technology.
Would shut itself off if the power dropped too low, allowing you a couple of restarts....great if you leave the lights on.
There was an LED on top that told you power storage.
And there was the "restart" button that could be used to turn the battery completely off....nice anti theft device.

Real world use was a bit disappointing.
Started the car fine, but with minimal amp-hr rating, the Anti Gravity battery couldn't keep up with the electrical demand at stop lights when I was using headlights, fog lights, wipers and the defroster blower.

So I went with an AGM battery that had over twice the amp-hr rating and have never looked back.
I gained 30 lbs (yuck) but the peace of mind to me was worth it.

This battery would have been great in a dedicated track/auto-x car though.
Perfect for that.
Or if you only drive during the day in nice weather.

The RS30 is a $700 battery (wow..spendy!) and weight about 12ish-lbs, it's performance is disappointing based on what you're describing.

It makes me feel good about the ETX20 AGM battery I just bought for $96, that weights 14-15 lbs.

I have the anti gravity H6 in my Cayman, and the T6/L2 in my 964. When I put the new battery in the 964 it seemed to crank faster, but other than that it seems to operate as a battery should. Biggest thing is remembering to use the special battery tender for the Li-ion batteries.

I do, I just switch back and forth. This is my 3rd experience with vehicle batteries. The 1st was a WPS, ordered from Harley Davidson. It was so light I made them open the box and take it out. 4 .5 pounds, thought it was a joke. It worked great. Nowadays I see you can get them under 200 bucks! The price you pay for being first. Mine was way north of that! Anyway, back to changing gasket and hoses while I have my engine out
