Here are the times from the otc site. looks like BB2 came in a VERY close second. Its going to come down to the last track, but it looks promising, since its Derek Daly Academy (counter-clockwise) and when they ran is clockwise BB2 won by around 9 sec. What happens if they are tied in points in the end?

1991 Acura NSX Hardee, Southwell 1:32.843 1:33.396 1:33.605 4:39.844

130 1972 Porsche 911 Olsen, Schmidt 1:33.144 1:33.398 1:33.626 4:40.168

Yeah, worked for me too. Its complex! They were 2nd to the NSX at Willow Springs (20 pts vs 25) so are now 2nd in Class by 5 points (boohoo!).

But they are still ahead in the Touring division (which apparently ranks the cars by times across the whole division) - in third with a 10pt lead, mostly because the NSX had a shocker at Las Vegas.

Go boys!

When it's all said and done, R-compound rubber would have nett them a few valuable seconds where it counts, but then I'm not the one paying Jack's bills!

Have they had a smooth run with the new car? It looks bad-ass!

Perhaps a wee shot of (hopefully hidden?) nitrous on that final straight before the checkered flag? Man, those times are SO CLOSE!

Except for this part:
Quote:
TOURING DIVISION GUIDELINES

Touring Division provides for competition in street-driven cars on street tires.

13) Entered vehicles will run on DOT-approved tires with a minimum 2/32 of an inch tread depth and a UTQG treadwear rating of 140 or higher.
Looking at the time though, damn, that is a close second. Only .325 over 3 laps, that is tight.

Checking the overall Touring class standings, they are in third, ahead of everyone but the 2 fastest T1 cars, (the Viper and the Mosler). So faster than 3 vettes, and a 2001 996tt.

They beat the NSX solidly at Vegas the first time, this could be close. If they win, and the NSX gets 3rd (like last eime in LV) they could win it. If the NSX gets second they would be tied for first by points. Jack/tyson or the NSX could not even run and still finish second, the 3rd place car is too far back.

Should be interesting.

Tom

Yeah...I wonder? Could a rollbar double as a nitrous bottle?

Sorry, Tom. I didn't know about the "street tires" bit.

It's a very close margin as it is, though. More exciting than F1, even without the NOS!

Very Close indeed. If they finish in a tie in points, it would go by who has the lowest total time for the seven days.

I spoke to Tyson a short while ago, and according to him if there is a tie in points, 1st goes to the team w/ most wins. Which I guess would be the NSX, but regardless, they are driving amazingly well. The NSX has a pro driver, (who apparently is a really nice guy), and everyone is driving the wheels off of their cars. It is absolutely the epitome of grass-roots motorsports, no prize $$ involved, but at the same time a high level of competition. As much of Jack's hard earned dollars have gone into BB2, they are a budget operation compared to some of the cars that they are beating. (In several classes).

I was supposed to be there today, but fate intervened and I could not make it. They have had their share of minor difficulties that would be anticipated w/ such an undertaking, but the car has been awesome, their driving also, plus they are having a great experience and getting mucho respect from other drivers/teams. I'm awfully proud and impressed.

That kinda dumb, because they could finish second to them in their class, but based on overall times times they could finish ahead of them overall and within the touring division. which is how they are placed right now. It should be consistant throughout the class, division and overall.

I think that the tie-breaker rule only applies if points are even, so if NSX didn't run today it would lose because it would not score any points today. Unfortunately, the NSX hasn't broken yet, (of course neither has BB2), and NSX has a ringer driver. BUT....., no rule against putting a pro driver in your car, so there you go.

Once again, our guys are doing an amazing job. Before the series started, Jack and Tyson thought that they would be lucky to place in T2 w/ the line-up of cars/drivers this year, instead they will be slightly pissed if they don't take 1st! Pretty amazing for a Porsche mechanic and a "soft-boned Momma's boy L.A. screenwriter"!

The NSX would have to run and get second to be a tie in points. The good thing is they are running the same Config as the second day due the the track Marshal saying it would not be safe to run the track in reverse. The first time there, Tyson drove to a first place finish and the NSX took third so it is definately in their favor right now.

I told Tyson before they left that the only competition would be from the NSX. Based on their times during testing at Willow springs, Their Competition was gonna have to really step it up to compete.

A pro driver? An obviously well prepped NSX? Jack & Tyson don't have a thing to hang their heads over. This is like finishing 2nd in a 9 ball tourney...to a "kid" named Cory Deuel...2nd place gives you some pretty hefty bragging rights!
