I'm in Saugus. Let's see where the stay-at-home order ends up. I won't be installing my new parcel shelf for a while. I can bring it over if you like and we can see how that compares to yours. I would rather not ship it.

It may be a matter of how you are setting it into place. I just changed out speakers in my Targa, here is a pic of the very back center

Not a great photo, but you get the idea - it is tight and flat against the rear window. Yours does not look warped to me. Make sure that you are first setting the back edge of the deck into the bottom of the glass, then push down on the seatback so the tab sets into the slot. The foam should not be altered, that shouldn't be your issue. I needed to play with mine a bit to get it right.

A strange option. If your speakers are bowing the cover inward at the center, you could cut round holes in the insulation for the speaker magnets to sit in. I have 6/9s in the rear deck of my coupe and cutting holes in the insulation allows the cover to sit where it should. Cheap fix.

Reviving an old thread here, but I have the exact same problem in my 83 targa as well. I have tried to get the rear parcel shelf to fit without the speakers, with, without the foam, with, etc. I still have a gap all the way around and it drives me nuts. I am thinking about just using the same type of board to cut and attach an extension to the bottom to bridge the gap under the window trim and then have it all recovered in black vinyl (to cover the speaker holes as well).

Has anyone recovered their parcel shelf and if so, how difficult was it? I am hesitant to just buy a new one as I have the grey beige interior (and not just all black).
