Specifics on V8 Conversion items

Sorry I didn't include the specifics. The main ones are the Fuel Tanks, A/C Systems and Coolant Systems. All of these items are considered to be carrying Hazardous materials and must be safety tested before use on the highway. What happens if you have a wreck and your "Untested" fuel tank splits and soaks everyone with burning fuel. If you live, you will probably be in violation of the "Depraved indifference to Human Life" sentence modifier for putting illegal, dangerous items on your car and then driving them in public.

As far as I know the only legal items they sell they buy from Kennedy Engineering, that being clutches, mounts, etc.

Hope that clears it up.

Can someone ban this guy? I mean, really. This isn't a forum for personal vendettas. You got a problem, take it up with them offline.

If you are going to re-engineer a car rather than fix the original engine or put in an equivalent design engine in the car, don't b*tch about something not working at government safety standards.

Plus, worrying about the coolant and A/C seems really petty.

Why don't you really tell us who you work for? Go AWAY

IM TELLIN WAYNE!! :-) hee hee

masraum 04-11-2003 01:19 PM

yeah, they tell you that the gas tanks are fabricated, what did you expect?

This just seems silly.

Hmmmm sounds like somebody must have bought their stuff and doesnt have the gumption to finish it and finish it correctly (if thats possible with a v8 conversion) and is dis-satisfied..... so maybe blame it on "un-regulated" equipment. Quit holding your breath and pouting. Too many sue happy, whiny a@s people in this country. As far as splitting the gas tank and spilling fuel all over the passengers....the government allowed the sale of the Pinto!

Don't forget the part about kids and pets getting hurt too. Who cares about your problems? Quit being a pest and go away.

Hey I'm from the 914 board & you posted there too! I met Scott at Renegade recently when I was in Vegas. I checked out his shop & everything they sell. He is a stand up guy & stands behind his product. I was very impressed with Renegade. May you rot in H*ll for bashing someone & their business this way! Sorry I'm kinda teeing off on this guy but his post is crap!

Sounds to me like a petty little man with a silly little grudge. wouldn't relieve myself on him if he were on fire.

I am somewhat confused by this post.

Just to be sure, I double checked and I can't find any "DOT numbers" on virtually any part I've bought from an aftermarket manufacturer. (A minor exception would be a CARB # for items that may affect emissions, but thats not DOT). He seems concerned about the radiator (anti-freeze is HAZMAT?), A/C and fuel tanks. In my three other "projects", I have all of the above (Griffin, Be-Cool, Vintage Air and replacement fuel tanks as well as a fuel cell) and not one DOT number to reference. Wait, I better call a lawyer........

I know that V8 conversions aren't popular around here (to say the least), but I couldn't find a DOT number on "Fuel Safe" fuel cells for P-cars either. The only disclaimer I found on them was that they "may affect factory warranty". (I'm still looking for the radiator parts.........)

I am in the process of making one of these "abominations" and I am using Renegade as my source for the parts. Before begining this project, I flew out to Vegas to check out their shop and see the quality of their work. I was happy with what a I saw. If you are considering doing a conversion don't base your decision on this post. I have been happy with what I have gotten and they are really a good group of guys.
