Avoid painting myself into a corner
I started refreshing my suspension just before Christmas last year. I did disassembly and will install pro built front and rear suspension sub assemblies. I put in turbo tie rods, rebuilt steering rack and cleaned up AC evaporator while in the frunk. There have been a number of “while your in there” opportunities (scope creep my wife would say) with this project. It started with an engine drop to get the trailing arms out, powder coat engine tins and mounting hardware, refresh starter/alternator, fix old leaky oil lines, adjust valves,R&R chain tensioner covers etc. etc.
Anyway I’m starting to put stuff back on the car vs. taking it off. I have trailing arms with new bearings and hubs installed but waiting on spring plates. Can I begin building up the parking brake and rear disc brakes before I get the torsion bars and spring plates in position? I don’t want to paint myself into a corner and have to disassemble/assemble components if I can avoid it. Unfortunately timing up with various small shops has been tough with people struggling to keep up and get stuff out the door. Thanks! Shot of car circa 12/2019, now there are boxes of parts lining every wall of my garage! ![]()

No problem fitting the parking brake and brake without the torsion bars or spring plates.

Thanks! I picked up a great point in another trailing arm thread. I shouldn’t do final torque on the M14 chassis/trailing arm bolts until final install with torsion plates. It places unnecessary stress on the bearing if is torqued to spec too soon. Thanks
