Windshield resevoir
There has to be as secret to draining my winshield resevoir, with out pushing my flusher lever the entire time. Any one know if there is a simple way of draining the beast, with out removing the entire thing? That looks a bit a pain in the a$$.
Have 81 SC and my fluid or water in the tank smells like battery acid. The mettal around the pump even has the white acid build up around it. I just put the pump in as my other one rotted away and now I know why! I could swear that it smells just like battery acid. I have never seen where water sitting in a tank to long would do this.... Anyway and secrets on draining or removing the tank would be much appreciated. Koo ![]() |

i drained my gas tank once with one of those $7 kerosene hand pumps you get at a hardware store. (couldnt think of a better way to minimize what would come out of the drain plug) took awhile, but i bet you could drain that relatively tiny reservoir in a few minutes. sorry i dont have my digital camera with me, or i would just send you photo of the pump. maybe someone else will just chime in and tell you where a plug is hidden.....

fill a hose with water and plug the ends with your thumbs. keeping your thumb on one end put the other end into the tank. keep the thumbed end lower than the tank and remove your thumb (keep over bucket). this will enduce a syphon and pull all the water out. learned this from a guy at an aquarium store to drain a fish tank w/o getting a mouth full of $h!tty water.

I had the bumper off to replace the headlight washer pump, so figured I'd just go ahead and remove the reservoir and rinse it out (I'd had problems with clogging jets). OMG...20 years of crud. Looked to be mostly fungus, dirt, etc. Now, has never worked so good. Anyway, a bit more work...but you could just remove it.
