84 911 fuel damper whistling
I have an 84 Carrera with 99k miles. I bought it 3 years ago w/ 91K. There has always been a whistling at part throttle. I pulled the engine last year to do maintenance items and fuel lines. I replaced all fuel and vac lines along with any gasket material and any sensor that couldn't be reached with the engine in the car. When the engine was back in the car, the whistling persisted. It makes good vacuum at idle and part throttle. It sounds like the fuel pressure damper on the passenger side. Is this normal for the damper to be noisy, or should I replace it. I don't want to have a lean condition. I've been meaning to take the car to a dyno and test the air fuel ratio under load. Thanks

Nope, not common for this to make noise - how do you know it's making noise?

Are you sure it's not a leaking intake gasket? There's one above and one below the plastic insulator under each intake tube.

My 85 whistled until i replaced the air cleaner box. Smog laws in California required me to replace because of a crack I had repaired and clip missing.

Pull the vacuum hose off the pcv valve behind the oil filler neck and see if that's it.
