My 3.2SS build.
I knew I had two broken head studs so I started the rebuild of my 3.0 finally. Plans for the build are
3.2 Short Stroke 98mm 10.5:1 JE Pistons, skirted. Twin plug JB racing Dizzy PMO 46 DC60 Cams JBR straight cut I/S gears Valve job and CNC porting on the late SC heads by Xtreme. Drilled for 12mm lower plug. Will be matching Carrera head specs. Race springs. Supertec head studs. ARP rod bolts and flywheel bolts. 1 3/4" QSC V band headers 991 GT3 muffler RSR flywheel and sachs aluminum pressure plate GT3 oil pump, cross drilling crank main, grooves main bearing GT3 main and rod bearings. Carrera tensioners kit Open to suggestions from anyone if I'm missing some fun parts. I slipped down the slope and am tumbling now. Thats the gist of it. If I'm going to split the case and do this, I want to tick every "while I'm in there" box because I'm young and have no real responsibilities at the moment. Pulled the motor myself in the driveway. Here's happy me after I got the engine on the stand. Used a chain at the cross member side and a tow strap around the rear hook to meet the chain at the front. Really easy way to get it up. Harbor freight hoist for $140, cheap and does the job great. I found one head stud while pulling the tin. Next up was pulling CIS off and exhaust to get down to a long block. The exhaust was RUSTY. Originally a Michigan car. All 6 Allen key nuts came off no issue, the 13mm nuts were a different story. I took a Dremel to all 6 to split them open and whacked them with a large flat head and hammer to pop them off. The studs will get replaced to didn't mind grinding into them. After pulling the manifolds, cross over, and cat in one piece, I worked on the lower valve covers. Found 4 broken head studs in total, even though the car ran great before pulling it. Day one, thats a wrap. Now to further tear into it and get a look at the pistons and cylinders. The CIS, dizzy, and miscellaneous parts will hit the classifieds soon if anyone is interested. I am really a parts hoarder, but to be honest I really don't see myself ever using CIS in the future so its time to make room. Down to the long block tonight. Waiting on some Stomski tools to come in the mail and then I can get started on disassembly down to a short block. Stuck until I get a P9191 tool for the cams so in the mean time I'll be cleaning the engine bay and cleaning the 915.

Sounds exactly like my engine, finish mine about 3 years ago recommend using ARP case and crank as well, take a little more time balance rods pistons

Congrats on taking the plunge! It's pretty terrifying at first but once you get rolling it's the best. Other than leaning over a solvent tank for like twenty hours removing the POs excessive sealant use, it was one of the most fun projects I've done.

Pretty similar core to mine. I added Pauter rods and twin plugs, and modified GT2 cams (Rasant Products did the build) to the core build. Also used RSR High Butterfly ITBs and distributerless EFI rather than carbs.

Mine did 290 at the crank. 10.5:1, twin plug, EFI as pictured in previous post, AEM Infinity.

David 23, pretty sure I followed or attempted to follow you at last years Targa Cali. I have a stock '71T, Ivory. It was one of several there. Dave at TRE did the suspension so on the twisties it was good, ... but the little T quickly ran out of steam once it got serious. I really like the Rasant stuff; however Dave had a built 3.8 on the shelf and ready to go .... that and a built 915 was to be my recipe for Targa 2020. Next year or maybe the Baja. In the meantime I have relocated, yet again ... I think the car will be nice here in Scotland, lot of nice roads in the Highlands!
