Targa Script Glue?
Hi all,
Does anyone know what kind of glue is used to attach the targa script to the side of the targa bar, assuming it's not the type of script that is attached from the rear. Thanks. |
I've heard that its actually double faced tape, or I suppose you could use something like 3M weatherstrip adhesive also.
|
3M makes an emblem/ornament double-sided tape that is very thin and flexible/pliable. Works great. Any local auto paint supply store should carry it.

I am thinking of a "refresh" of my targa bar, can anyone reco a method of removing the traga script?
|
I think I saw something about dental floss in my reading along the line . Floss it and Smile!SmileWavy

there's a tech article on rennlist detailing refinishing the targa bar - I just did mine this past weekend and I'm very pleased. I was just too busy to post pictures. Removing your Targa script depends upon the year of your car I believe. On older cars, the dental floss method words, as it is held on my double faced taped. With newer cars, the script has posts that go through the bar and have speednuts holding them on from behind. Try the dental floss - if it doesn't work, you may have to remove the bar from the car to get them off. FWIW, I left the script on my bar and just sprayed the script black along with the bar, which is how it came from the factory on my '85 - black script on a black bar. |
I am screwed i tired the dental floss last night and got no where, there are two screws that i cant get to

not sure whether your bar is black or brushed aluminum. if black, you can spray both the bar and the script. the original script on black bars was black. |
Not sure why my script is silver then, my car was a special order color. Its Granite ice, i dont know exactly what Porsche called it. Either way i relally would like to keep the script silver, which means a lot of time with tape and an exacto knife i guess?
