Hard oil line brackets - wrong size?

I am in the process of adding a Carrera fender mounted oil cooler, external thermostat and the hard lines from the thermo to the cooler. I purchased the weld-on tabs and associated parts that hold the lines to the chassis from our host. Sure looks to me like the curved clamp that gets bolted to the chassis tab is too small, holding the oil lines too close together to get a screw in between them. I compared to the one on my '85 Carrera and it does indeed seem to be smaller, but hard to tell as I did not remove the rocker panel on the Carrera and I can't really get a good look at it.
Can anyone tell from this photo if I'm missing something?
Thanks,
Bill

What are the cylindrical parts you used to simulate the lines? Those look a lot wider than the hard lines.

Put a caliper on a hard line. The center to center distance between the curved ends of the bracket needs to be what - maybe 8mm wider than one tube diameter?

I believe there are 2 versions of the clamp, but check the PET. One version for the flex lines in the rear wheel well and a slightly larger version under the rocker covers. Even so, I recall the radiii of the two are the same and you will totally compress the foam when you install. Also there are nylon spacers that should be used, again check the PET.

When I added an external cooler to my 1973.5 this winter, I used mostly the 84-86 Carrera setup to guide me. Per PET:

Here, they call for Part numbers :
17 (6 ea.) 911 207 302 00
18 (1 ea.) 911 207 237 00
20 (3 ea.) 911 207 303 00
21 (3 ea.) 911 559 145 00
21 (3 ea.) 911 559 145 01
25 (1 ea.) 999 511 084 02

We fabricated our own pieces for items 17 and 21.

In the end, since my 1973.5 did not have the tabs that the Carrera has for the lines and the lines did not quite lay on the body like a Carrera, we had to get creative and use some rivnuts in different locations to get the lines to connect to the body. We also had to modify the oil line from the thermostat to the oil tank as it was about 1" short.

Good catch! There are indeed two different clamps for different parts of the system as the PET above shows. I ordered the smaller one, 911 207 237, looks like I also need 911 207 303 as well.

You guys are good!
