It’s the opposite runner of #3 intake that supports the blower motor.
You can take it off but you still won’t have matching patina like the rest of the tube Bruce |

Yes, cut off that CIS intake and replace it with something fun.

Just realized it was a shared casting for cylinder #3, and that lump was drilled and tapped for a stud. Might try to cut this off since it’s ugly and pointless

Someone might give you an early intake runner in the same size without the lump on it. Measure the ID. Might be the big port runners that you got there.

It was molded that way. You don't want to screw up your intake. Unless you have a readily available replacement, I wouldn't mess with it. Nothing worse than breaking a part you can't replace. Ask me how I know that.

lol. Cut off the extra boss from Cyl 1, too. Going to try smacking that section with an awl a few times to add dents; when I get it blasted I'm hoping it will look cast.

I've replaced my CIS with TBITZ EFI and have opted for the "clean look". (Original/single throttle body with the runners.) This leaves me with these "lumps" on multiple runners. Removing the superfluous studs was an obvious 1st pass. But I've been pondering cutting off the lumps and finishing the runners.
I'd appreciate ideas for finishing the runners? |
