1984 3.2 stumbles when cold

On start up, car is fine. However, after driving through the neighborhood, and have my first downshift from third to second, the car stumbles. Then it seems to stall, then I get a surge and the car takes off. Any advice on what might be causing this? Thanks.

Could be a multitude of things. From ignition to fuel specs. Wires would be suspect. I'd go through it with a complete tune up.
