tranmission bolt measurement?

I need to reinstall my transmission bolts to my engine case so I can mount it back onto my engine stand.

QUESTION: How far in do I need to screw the bolts back into the engine case? Is there a torque value or can I get a ruler and measure out how far it is in?

QUESTION 2: I have one long bolt and 3 smaller, but all equal size bolts. Where does the longer bolt go? I'm confused on which case half it goes to... (the side with VIN or without? the top of bottom of the case?)
