Glove compartment light

these are the 3 positions for glove box light:
1) off
2) on
3) off / on when opening and closing glove box door.
my issue is that the #3 position does not work, the light will not come on when opening the glove box door.
Any ideas on why?
Thanks

Nailed it! Or improperly wired.

Switch wire unknowingly removed or cut when someone installed a radio? I’ve seen that one a few times.

I corrected the crossed wires and the glove box button worked as it should, light is on when box is open off when box is closed...BUT!... only works when the light fixture is out of the dash..when I put the light fixture back up into place the glove box “button” did nothing... light stays on when door is closed. I have the light in the correct position... I know because like I said it works properly when the light fixture is hanging out of the dash. Ground problem? Thanks
