76 fuchs 14in info search

Quick question about 14in fuchs. Did they only stamp 14in fuchs with a 76 date code if they were for a 912E. Before I list them for sale I wanted to see if they mass produced them in 76 for other cars or just the E and replacements for the E.

Other than the size of the hub opening, they are the same as the older 14 inch Fuchs.
So your buyer would have to use the newer ring type caps.

Why try to limit your market by specifying a year ?

Also, dealers would put them on new/used 911 inventory and offer them as a 'comfort' option wheel.

And yes, the wheels for the 912E were stamped '76 and they were not standard on the 912E. They were a DM 1,063 option ($492) over the stamped steel wheel.

In other words, I don't know the answer to your question as to if they were offered across the model lineup for the mid-year cars.

Thanks Bill, that was the answer I was looking for. They could have been for an E, but no way of actually knowing. That makes them less rare.

They are rarer in that most of the FS ads here have been for the earlier edition wheels.
Not all people know that the 76 wheels require the ring cap vs the three prong.

Purchased a 1976E in 2006 that had the original 14"Fuchs and the center caps were the three prong type. The wheels were in fact stamped "76" on them so the three prong caps do fit the wheels made for the 76E.

Here are pictures of my 5 1/2 x 14 Fuchs that came on my 912E.
Clearly shows date code of 11/75, marked 5 1/2 x 14 with ring caps. (red rustproof paint inside)
