Where is this wire coming from/going to?
This started a what was going to be a simple afternoon project. Replace the defrost indicator light and add a fuse at the headlight switch. Along the way, I’ve found so much other wire that looks decrepit, but the origin and destination are unclear. This one does not look like a German connector, but the way it enters the loom appears to be factory. On One side the wires are brown and yellow leads which read 12v with the ignition on. The other side are blue and black, very brittle and appear to be shorted. I don’t know how I haven’t had a fire.
Anybody got any idea where these go or what they do? ![]() Last edited by Quickstep192; 05-31-2020 at 09:31 AM.. |

Bump...
I know this is a bit obscure, but I could really use the help. I can't figure out where this thing goes other than it heads down into the carpet on the far left drivers side. From there it could go forward, right or aft. I don't see it emerging in the frunk anywhere. The carpet was just replaced, so taking it out to trace this wire isn't a very good option for me. |

Probably the seat, safety belt contacts.

Is everybody named Sully a hero? 'Cause you're my hero!
The coiled cable under my seat, long since abandoned, has the same color leads and is similarly brittle. Thanks a million for this guidance. Now all I have to do is find the one for the other side... Thanks again. |

What year car? Those plugs are on the wiper and cruise control stock switches. Seatbelt wires are yellow/red and brown/white normally on 3.2s..
Blue n black a lot are lightbulbs for various dash lights and the Defrost light on the tunnel top.. Also, yellow and brown are the heat leaver switch wires.. More pics?

The car is a ‘73 so there’s no cruise control. I found cables under the seat that are the same size, color and brittleness as the one I found under the dash. I did a continuity check on the cable and it appears that both ends belong to the same cable (although continuity checks in a car can be misleading) I found the same combination on the passenger side. Thanks all for the help. |

When I took my car apart, I found the seat belt harnesses were shot, along with previous owners poor speaker wiring. Like most owners, I have everything unplugged.

My lesson learned is that I should have removed the old carpet myself before I took the car to the carpet guy. Then I could have pulled all the junk out before the new carpet was in. I'm not about to pull the carpet out now.
