jlex, one side of the repair area is accessible without removing the cooler. Unfortunately to repair the other side you will have to remove the oil cooler as highlighted in flojo’s previous post. I just did this on my ‘88. |

but you don't go through the husltle just for that check. if you have a light leak, adress it next time you drop the engine for some other reason |
flojo........ your quotation is out of contest ..he was asking if he can see the outside of the case without taking the oil cooler off and the answer is yes you can see it without taking the oil cooler off..Just to clarify it for future onlookers;-)))))

What I did as I want to be 100% sure this area remains dry:
1. Sent out the oil cooler for pressure testing (Expected to have it back today) 2. Sealed the case with Versachem Titanium Epoxy System http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1592381405.JPG 3. As there was a comment on the usage of green seals, I picked up new ones from the local Porsche center => For comparison (Big seal is a different green than the old one, suppose it doesn't matter but wanted to use new seals anyway) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1592381405.jpg And while I was in there, I installed a new damping mat as the old one was completely dry and crumbling http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1592381405.jpg |
good job....
