Please identify this.

Good evening all,
I'm in the process of searching for an air leak in my '83 SC and found these two items.
Photo #1 the "T" with a screw plugging the tube (runs to the distributor). Does the plugged portion run to a certain area? or is the an attempt to "splice the the line?

Photo #2 The female plug is this aftermarket? (Left hand side under intake) It was wrapped in electrical tape.

Any insight is welcome.

Item 2 is the factory connector for ROW non Lambda cars. Thermo time vacuum switch.
Not used on US cars so the factory taped it up.

The two wire plug could be for the heater blower motor. Is your blower motor connected & working. Turn on ignition and activate the heater in the cabin. You should hear the blower in the engine compartment.

I like Tim's explanation better than mine.

Lol, I actually delete them for the 1980 and newer US market SC’s with Lambda to avoid confusion when building new engine harnesses for those engines.
It is needed for all 78 & 79 models regardless of market.

Do you have cruise control? Did you used to? I bet that’s your vac line.

Agreed.

The T either goes to the cruise control servo on the left side of the engine bay or the decel valve on the back right side of the engine. Looks like a UFO with a nipple on it. Common for people to disconnect & plug the decel valve. It improves throttle response when you let off the gas.

If the decel valve line isn’t used make sure to plug off the port on the valve itself.

Photo 1 just looks like someone was trying to pull vacuum for something. The throttle body to distributor lines don't have any tees.

I notice the oil on the brake vacuum booster elbow under the heater blower mount. Mine is similarly yucky. Anybody know why oil builds up on that elbow?

Thank you!

Smadsen, The heater fan works and I actually disconnected the wires when I pulled the fan out. This wire was just tucked behind the spark plug wires. While looking at the plug it has "Germany" on it. Perhaps timmy2 is right.

The car has cruise control but I have never used it. I think I'll poke around the back and check the dece valve and cruise control.

I have to say, with that fan out of there, so much more room!!
