how tight is too tight

I just got finished bolting my 77 911s cases together< they are torqued properly, yet when I hand crank the motor, it feels a little tight yet smooth. Is this normal ? I should add that I put a new crank timing gear and Aluminum shaft gear, all new kolbenschmidt rod bearings and new glyco mains.Any help is appreciated . Thanks

2.7s pretty much all need an align hone of the mains. They turned fine with old main bearings, then with new ones, they bind a little or a lot. If you take it apart, you will see a few polished areas on your new bearings. Should be able to turn it easily by hand.

Can also vary the tightening sequence to see if torquing to specs doesn’t bind crank rotation.

If it binds at all, the bearing(s) or journal(s) suffer the most wear. Likely the Mg case, possibly crankshaft runout or both.
