Need advice
I just purchased a '73.5 911T CIS. It's a matching numbers (mostly correct) CA car with S options. I intend for this to be a weekend driver. The car arrives in a week from the LA area. I'm looking for recommendations for (1) a 911 expert/judge to go over the car with me and come up with a list of items that need to be corrected. (2) a Houston area Porsche shop for repairs and maintenance (3) an upholstery shop to repair a crack in the dashboard (4) an alignment shop to inspect/replace the rubber bushings on the rear trailing arms. (5) advice /counsel on replacing the cookie cutter wheels with chrome wheels and hub caps. This is a lot my first post but I would appreciate all the advice I can get. Chasman

. Congratulations on your purchase. Search on this forum is your friend. Everyone has an opinion and an ass hole you may get some advise/opinions that you don't like. Just because it is on the interned doesn't make it true. Do your homework and see what the common denominator is. Good luck lots of fun but it can get expensive.

Congrats! I also have a '73.5 911T CIS car tho I killed the CIS long ago. Harry D. has one too.
dashboard may be hard to fix; and new ones don't fit - I am living with the 2" long crack in mine. There are some vinyl fill products - I bought but haven't used them yet. chrome is not often seen on 911s - Fuchs are the best wheels; keep the cookies at least for now I guarantee the bushings do not need to be inspected and are bad if > 20 yrs old (just like the brake hoses, but less dangerous). - you need to find an experienced shop on old, air-cooled 911s NOT just an alignment shop - but you can DIY all the bushings; Elephant Racing is best - 2 choices Polybronze or rubber Not all opinions are equal, rather than follow the common denominator, you should search for and follow advice by: Grady Clay Jim Simms Warren (Early S Man) Bill Verberg and a few others - There is a wealth of unorganized information on this site. see my sig. for critical things to do - those need to be done first - before wheels, dash etc. Gather up all the old receipts for parts and shop work and organize them to see what was done when. I use an Excel spreadsheet with columns for date, mileage, things done and even cost. I put in entries from the 6 POs then just sorted by date - made it easy. If it is not documented, then assume it was not done. |

I too would look for a set of 6 x 15 Fuchs wheels for the car. It's a 911, chrome wheels aren't quite right, why make it look like a 912? It's just my opinion.
Welcome, ask questions. you'll get answers and opinions galore.
