Question Restoration Questions

I am doing a complete restoration on a 79 SC (don't ask me why).

1. Does anyone have a paint code for the "white" finish on the bottom of the car?

2. If you were just going to show this at local events, how important is it to duplicate the factory overspray on the bottom?

3. What is the best way to repair chipped sections of rust proofing/sound deadening material?

Thanks,

I won't ask you why. I spent $60,000 (over the price of the project car) restoring, rebuilding and modifying an '83 SC. Most people don't get it. Ask me if I care.

We do what makes us happy, I suppose. I just had my 82SC retoratively painted, I think the thread still exists. Who's painting your car? The white paint should be the same paint as the rest of the car. You could have Wurth undercoat applied to the chipped areas assuming that they are in the wheel wells and car's underside.

Harlan, do you have photos of your car? I am changing my car to blue and would love to see yours.

The car is currently Oak Green. I assume the white/light gray color on the underside is some type of primer or sealant. It is definitely applied over the undercoating. I had assumed it was going to be black but it actually cleaned up nicely. The engine bay has a little more body color than overspray but not much more. You can see the white through the green in most places.

There is little overspray on the underside driver's side but a lot on the passenger side. I know the passanger side had some repair work so I assume this is not from the factory. Maybe I should paint it body color and then there will be no "overspray" anywhere.

Rich

Please see Pazific Blau 1982 911SC thread as this chronicalizes the process or at least some of it.

Do you have the color code for the original paint color?
