The kit looks like it will get the job done. Looking forward to the track results. Did stoptech give you any idea of the pad. Characteristics? Are there any pad options?
I see you have ducted air to the rotor. I just did that to my M braked, (broken :-) 74, but haven’t had a chance to track it yet. How effective was that on your car? Are the screens for clag, or do you have some other duct plugging hazard?? Thanks, Chris |
There are many brands of pads available. Stoptech ships with their 309 sport compound. This is supposed to be light track use.
I just bought a set of hawk HT-10 pads. I’ll used those for the track in the next few days. I’ll keep the 309s for street. You can also get Porsche pads in the 309 compound. I just installed them in the back I really want to go to Pagid RSL-29 yellow pads. Right now I’d have to use a slightly larger height pad to fit (2555 size) verses 2205. It’s a $290 gamble, but I really like the Pagid 29s. Street and track = no pad swaps. The ducting really helps and the screens are to stop big stuff going into the scoops. One significant point:
I am not expecting a deceleration benefit. This upgrade was more about heat rejection and how that affects pads life and hub temperatures. What I hope will happen is I get faster recovery, and less change in pedal travel over the course of a session. Less heat into the aluminum hubs as evidenced by grease weeping from the caps. Longer pad life. Especially if I can get the Pagid 29s to fit. Watkins glen 2-day events really burn the pads down. |
First impressions
Bedded brake pads and the feel and modulation is great. 309 compound seems good for the street. OMG it is so easy to bleed the brakes with dual bleed ports!!! None of the issues with the ATE caliper being spongy due to a trapped air bubble. Firm pedal from the get go. |
I looked at the stop tech web site. I could not fine front brakes. Do you have a part number?
|
83.782.FT00.A1 is the kit I bought.
Finding the proper website seems harder than it should be. |

I got my full ST level 2 system a year ago, and am very happy with it. While I don't still have the specific individual component weights, I recall my ST system averaged 6 lbs. per corner lighter than the stock 911SC system I replaced.
|
Total weight reduction was about 5 lbs to the SC.
About 8-9 lbs lighter compared to the wider Carrera rotors and wide-m calipers. |

I understand: - no change of master cylinder - no change of front hubs - no spacers/adaptation neede with 16 Fuchs - you get the hats and rotors, mount them to the hub and install everything with the provided caliper adapter and brake line. job done. correct? |
Looks good.
Thinking on getting this kit. Should fit nice behind 17'' wheels. |

FT00 uses the larger st43 caliper without dust seals.
Yes the front brakes are 100% compatible with 911SC and 84-89 Carreras. If you google the part number you get multiple companies selling them. |

what interests me the most are the hats and 28-282 rotors from this set.
they have the same SC/Carrera diameter (282) but provide more width with their 28mm. SC has 20 and Carrera 24 these and the offset of the hats will fit my 964 C2 calipers on my SC. But I'm having a hard time finding a StopTech partnumber. help? |
I just did a google search on “stoptech replacement rotor”
Got multiple hits. Your choice as to order from. I will cost 2x(345+230) to but just hats and rotors without the full kit. |
