How to remove headlight adjusting screws H4
 

I have my H4s apart because the ring was slightly bent. In order to put it back together, I would like to back out the headlight adjusting screws which I have marked so that I don't lose the adjustment. There seem to be crimped rings preventing me from removing them. Is there a trick to getting them out? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1592515423.jpg

Hold the crimped steel ring with a pair of needle nose pliers as you spin the screw off. Alas, this destroys the threads on the screws. Purchase replacement stainless steel screws and matching nylock nuts from BelMetric (I can dig up the sizes if you need 'em) for reassembly.

Don't tighten the nylocks down completely against the screw or you'll lose the ability to turn the adjuster once everything is reassembled. Snug it down close enough to retain the adjuster screw, bit still allow it to rotate freely. Be careful tightening the screw as holding the assembly while doing so is awkward and there's a lot of screwing to be done... It's easy to slip and hit the painted side of the ring with the screwdriver. Power screwdriver works well in this application, but may increase the chance of slipping / damage.

Thank you so much for that. I was afraid the screws would strip if I tried to rotate them our holding the nuts. Since I have painted covers over these, I’m not too worried about how they look.
