1977 911 - Sunroof will not close correctly

The sunroof moves both directions ok
But it is at a slight angle , so it does not close .
Any suggestions?

The sunroof needs to flip just before it closes. Typically there is a problem when the plastic hinge? on the cable breaks. The only new ones are for later models so you have to file some part down a bit to get it to fit. At least the new ones are all metal so eliminates problem of plastic breaking again. There is a how to article on this.

Is this the right part ?

Assuming I need a left and right cable , that is over $400. :-(

Disassemble first to see exactly what is going on. It's pretty straightforward.

What Todd said. You may luck out and find that you can repair the cable where it attaches to the bracket. This post is very helpful: Sunroof cable repair and new seals 87 911

Open the sunroof 4" then unclip the headliner and push it partway back, exposing the mechanism. Check to see if the cable end has come out of its holder. People have been able to JB Weld and recrimp it back into place.

I seem to remember paying about £35 ($50) for each but that was back in 2008. I bought mine from the local Porsche dealer here in Manchester UK. Sometimes parts from my local Porsche dealer are cheaper than after market parts.
