Shift boot

I am taking out the carpet and not sure how the boot is secured to the floor. I don't want to pull up on the boot and rip it if it is screwed down or glued down.

The rubber boot on my 84 911 was not fastened to the floor. It was just tucked under the carpet that was under my center console.

Hope this helps.

I hope it is the same for the '76 as it feels pretty secure.

Well if it is screwed or glued down then they would have had to done that first and then put the carpet over it. Start removing the carpet from the tunnel and sorta work towards the boot and see the situation. I would expect it isn’t secured. Mine was not in my 79.

Your rubber boot looks exactly like mine. The base of my boot (under the carpet) does not have any fasteners or connectors; just a rubber flange.

You can check the PET diagram for the 76 911 and see if yours is fastened to the floor. Its possible someone may have glued it to the top of the tunnel. 😕

Will dig my way to the boot and peek underneath, we shall see.
