This might be one of those rare occasions when the rare word is appropriate. Only a few hundred of the quad cams were produced in the 50s. Can't be too many surviving today. By strange coincidence, there is a pic of this engine on the back page of the April edition of the Potomac club magazine!

there was one at the Greensboro swap meet. He wanted 145K for it. I may not have heard it run but it was incredible.

The car in Toronto was restored at a cost of C$280,000, accdg to someone who bought some of the parts.

Sorry Reg, I was there but didn't get to meet you (I drove 4 hours from the US border).

Did you hear it run too?? It would have been nice to meet more of the people there, but that car was the highlight of the day for me!

Here's a picture of my friend's speedster in the booth having been painted prior to my car.

What color did you select? Pete's speedster was painted a 2002 Lexus silver

Your right about the service on these puppies, although I hear they're all expensive to maintain. I would let just anyone near a $50K motor. I understand valve adjustments are super complicated...I've read in the past that if you're going to buy a Carrera that you want to drive, go for the later Carrera 2s.

Also, there was an article on a national show winning Carrera 2 Cab in Excellence last year. The motor was done by Bill Doyle I believe, the rest of the car on the east coast. The car is one of only 29 Carrera 2 Cabs built. Ever.

Awesome car, white with green interior. drooling...

Dick,

The Lexus color is a much more contemporary tinted silver compared to the silver of the 50's. I thought Peter and Kersten the painter did a great job.

Porsche Crest Speedster Silver

Kerstan's paint work is so flawless that minimal color sanding and polishing is required. This is pre-wet sanding. He does a 1000 and 1500 wet sanding before polishing over the 4 color and 5 clear coats of paint.
