Lightbulb 73 1/2 911T Oil Consumption

My 73 1/2 started eating oil (1 qt 300 - 400 miles). No external leaks at all, leakdown and compression ck were good. Could it be the valve stem seals?? Haven't checked the plugs for soot. Can the valve stems seals be replaced without dropping the engine?

Are you seeing clouds of blue smoke? When? Accerating, cruising, slowing down? I know I have worn guides and go thru 1 qt every 2-300 miles. As far as I know, you need to drop the engine to get the heads off to replace the valve seals.
