H1 Hi-Beam blub option

Need to replace one of my Hi-Beam 100w bulbs, having a hard time finding a quality source, since it appears that Sylvania, and Philips are no longer making the 100w.

I just googled and it looks like our host, parts classik, Summit Racing, Amazon and other online stores have 100w H1 bulbs available from Hella, Osram, PIAA, and other reputable brands.

Ken,

Just curious. Are you using 100s on the low beams too?

I tried that, but have gone to 50s for the low beams.

I'd also like to hear if there has been a rigorous comparison of the LED solutions vs. H1s running high wattage bulbs?

Do the 100w bulbs cause the headlights to get too hot?

Why did you switch back to 50w from the 100w for your low beams?

I believe that the low beams have always been 55w and the hi beams are 100w. I have not noticed that the lights get that hot with the 100’s. I would also be interested if anyone has installed LED lights.

Daniel Stern's web site will give you guidance - I forget but may have Osram in mine.

Heat is no issue for me or most people; but be sure the wires have a relay and are not corroded, adequate size, etc.

The right side low beam bulb kept burning out. I had a relay, I'd replaced the front loom with a heavier gauge, but it still kept burning up. The smaller wattage seemed to last longer. (Just a feeling.) Ended up being a poor connection in the plug. By then, I'd convinced myself that the wattage was still very good for in-traffic driving.

The 100w high beams are outstanding and I'm not moving to LEDs until I'm convinced it's an upgrade.
